Every year, the RSS Statistics in Sport Section organises a Prediction Competition. Previous iterations have been based on football (Euro 2020, Women's World Cup 2023), tennis (Wimbledon 2022) and the Olympics (Paris 2024). This year, we returned our focus to Wimbledon, however, we introduced a different share-based format! Before the start of the tournament, participants selected tennis players to "invest" in and earn points according to their Wimbledon 2025 prize money (shared between investors). This means that an investor’s profits depended on the success of players that they invested in and the investment choices of other investors. The entry with the highest points total, along with two entries chosen by the judging panel based on the methodology used, will present their work in this session. This will be followed by a panel discussion with the competition winners and Milt Mavrakakis from Amelco, the sponsors of the competition.
Competition winners:
• Jed Michael
• Liam Critcher
• Amanda Murphy
